GREENSBORO, N.C. — And then there was one.
Matt Kuchar now owns the distinction of being the only player to qualify for the playoffs in each season since the inception of the FedEx Cup in 2007.
Kuchar finished T-39 at the Wyndham Championship on Sunday and enters the playoffs, which begin next week in Memphis, at No. 60 in the season-long point standings.
This season, only the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings qualify for the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, down from 125 (2009-2022), which made it much tougher.
After plenty of drama, only one player, tournament winner Lucas Glover advanced to the playoffs and Austin Eckroat, who entered the week at No. 70 but missed the cut, got knocked out.

But Scott wasn’t dwelling on having his season come to a premature end.
“I think it’s a good thing,” Scott said of the end of the streak. “I think it gives me a good chance to have a look at what I need to do differently to be more competitive in whatever competition I’m playing in.”
Thompson, a rookie this season, shot 1-under 69 on Sunday to finish at 8-under 272 and T-22. He figured he needed a few more birdies.
“My goal was to get to 12 under today and I figured that would be a good number to get to to have a chance,” he said.
Thompson finished No. 73 in the standings.
“It’s tough, but oh, well,” Thompson said.
Horschel shot 62, the lowest round of his career on Friday and backed it up with 63 on Saturday to grab a share of the 54-hole lead, but he couldn’t post a third…
