The Missouri men’s golf team tees off in the 2023-24 season for the first time on Monday, hosting the Golfweek Collegiate Kickoff at Dalhousie Country Club.
TOURNAMENT INFO
The tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The teams then wrap up on Tuesday with a final 18 holes to determine the champion.
Joining the Tigers at the season-opening event are Ball State, LSU, New Mexico State, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston, Stetson, UT Arlington, ULM, UT Martin, UTRGV and UTEP.
Dalhousie Country Club is hosting the event in Southeast Missouri with the par-72 course measuring 7,389 yards.
MILLICAN DEBUT
A new era of Missouri men’s golf begins this week under first-year head coach Glen Millican. The coach joins Mizzou after spending the previous 22 seasons leading the University of New Mexico program.
He led the team to eight Mountain West Conference titles in addition to eight appearances at the NCAA Championship Finals. Overall, New Mexico advanced to 18 NCAA Regionals during his 22 seasons on campus. His team recently qualified for the 2023 NCAA Championship Final at Grayhawk GC where they earned a top-25 finish.
TOP FOUR RETURN
The Tigers return their top four scorers in stroke average from a season ago, which resulted in the team’s second-straight trip to the NCAA Regionals. A second-team all-conference performer, Charlie Crockett led MU with an average of 70.03 – the lowest total since current PGA Tour pro Hadyen Buckley shot a 69.5 in 2017-18.
Mizzou also returns Jack Lundin (71.18), Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson (71.33) and Alfons Bondesson (71.36) from last season.
MIZZOU DEBUTS
Five Tigers are set to make their debut at Dalhousie. Junior Trevor Mierl joins Mizzou from Cameron University, while sophomore Virgilio Paz followed Millican from New Mexico. Freshmen Adam Miller, Peyton Purvis and Brock Snyder are all set to make their collegiate debuts this week.
