Women’s Golf to Open 2023 Fall Season at Cougar Classic


CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team’s fall season is set to kick off Sept. 11-12 in South Carolina with the playing of the Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston.
 
The two-day, 54-hole event features a total of 17 teams competing at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, six of which are ranked in the 2023-24 Golfweek Top 30 Preseason Rankings.
 
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Monday, Sept. 12 – 36 holes (Shotgun start scheduled for 7:30 a.m. CT)
Tuesday, Sept. 13 – 18 holes (Shotgun start scheduled for 7:45 a.m. CT)  
 
THE LINEUP
Justine Fournand (Sr.)

  • Transfer from South Carolina
  • Finished 2022-23 season with a 73.79 stroke average
  • 2021 Landfill Tradition Champion
  • 2020-21 Conference USA Golfer of the Year
  • 2019-20 Conference USA Freshman of the Year

 
Andrea Lignell (Sr.)

  • Finished 2022-23 season with a 69.50 stroke average, the third lowest in the SEC
  • Two-time WGCA All-American
  • 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Participant
  • 2022 Cougar Classic Champion
  • Tied for fourteenth at NCAA Championships, the third-highest finish in program history

 
Caitlyn Macnab (Jr.)

  • Two-time WGCA All-American transfer from TCU
  • 2022 and 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Participant
  • 2022 Big 12 Freshman of the Year
  • Ranked the No. 40 women’s amateur in the world
  • Competed for Team International at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup

 
Sophie Linder (Fr.)

  • 2022-23 USA Today High School Sports Awards Girls Golfer of the Year
  • No. 1 Recruit from Tennessee in the class of 2023
  • Won four consecutive TSSAA Individual State Golf Championships
  • Ranked the No. 23 overall recruit in the class of 2023 according to Jr. Golf Scoreboard
  • 2022 Mid State Girls Golfer of the Year presented by Farm Bureau

 
Natacha Host Husted (Jr.)

  • Shot a stroke average of 73.58 in 2022 fall tournaments
  • Tied for 13th at the 2022 Cougar Classic
  • Saw her career best 18-hole and 54-hole scores at the 2022 Cougar Classic
  • 2021-22 SEC All-Freshman Team
  • Represented Team Denmark at the 2021 Spirit International Golf Championship

 
Elle Johnson (Sr.) – Individual

  • Posted a stroke average of 73.89 across three tournaments in 2022-23
  • Earned a season-best finish of 8th at the 2023 Clemson Invitational
  • 2022 Florida Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Champion
