Cougar Classic in Rain Delay, Set to Resume Tomorrow

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tennessee women’s golf opened its fall season with one full round and one incomplete round at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston on Monday. Postponed due to inclement weather, the second round will resume at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning, followed immediately by the third and final round.

 

The Lady Vols currently sit tied for ninth place with a score of 2-under (284) on the Par 71 course; each golfer completed between 27 and 30 holes before the delay. In round one, three Lady Vols shot par or lower, and the other two ended round two with scores of par or lower.

Senior Vanessa Gilly set the tone early, notching a birdie in three of her first four holes of the morning. The Venezuelan national finished round one with an impressive 68 (-3) and is tied for eighth overall at 4-under after a 1-under performance through 12 holes in round two.

Kayla Holden bounced back from a 2-over start, logging four birdies for a first-round score of 71 (E). The senior shot 2-over through nine holes in round two and is tied for 56th.

Tied with Holden is sophomore Caroline Patterson, who recorded a birdie in two of her final three holes in round one to clock a score of 70 (-1). She is sitting on a 2-over overall score when round two resumes tomorrow.

After shooting a 75 (+4) in round one, Bailey Davis notched four birdies in 11 second-round holes, including three in her last four before the stoppage. The Maryland native is tied for 71st place with an overall score of 4-over.

Manassanan Chotikabhukkana started round two with three birdies and eight pars for a score of 3-under through 11 holes. She sits at 5-over overall, good for 79th place.
