LAKE ELMO, Minn. – No. 7 South Carolina remains in the lead at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate thanks to another under par round by the team on Tuesday. The Gamecocks shot 6-under as a team (282) and were led by a 3-under round from junior All-American Hannah Darling.
She opened the day hot with a pair of birdies the first two holes. The Midlothian, Scotland, native made just one bogey the rest of the way with red numbers on holes 15 and 18. Darling climbed 10 spots on the leaderboard and sits at 4-under overall for the tournament. She leads the field in par-5 scoring average at 6-under (4.25).
Freshman Maylis Lamoure continued her strong play with a 2-under 70. She is tied at the top of the leaderboard with Wake Forest’s Mimi Rhodes. After a bogey at the first, she was bogey free the rest of the way. Junior All-American Louise Rydqvist, the 18-hole leader after a career-best 66 (-6) on Monday, sits one shot back after an even par 72 today. She started with a double bogey but bounced back right away with back-to-back birdies at holes two and three. Rydqvist leads the field in par-3 scoring average at 2-under (2.75).
Talented sophomore Mia Sandtorv Lussand fired a 1-under 71. The Bergen, Norway, native made four birdies to match Darling for the team high on the day. Freshman Vairana Heck shot 73 (+1) and sits T-15th at 2-under for the tournament. All five players for the Gamecocks remain in the top-30.
The second-ranked Demon Deacons sit three shots behind Carolina in the team race. No. 11 Oregon is seven shots back at 14-under.
A win tomorrow would mark the Gamecocks’ third title at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, which was established in 2014. It would be the 24th career victory under head coach Kalen Anderson. If one of the players within grasp of the individual title triumphs, it would mark their first career win in Garnet and Black. New this year, the individual champion will earn a sponsor exemption into The ANNIKA, a premiere stop on the LPGA Tour. The annual tournament takes place outside of Tampa at Pelican Golf Club, which is set to host the SEC Championship for the first time in late April.
Live scoring for the final round is available again via Golfstat.
