Coming off its first title of the 2023-24 season, the Missouri men’s golf team looks to continue its early-season momentum at the SEC Fall Preview.
TOURNAMENT INFO
All 14 SEC schools are set to gather at the Birmingham Country Club, starting on Monday for the three-day tournament. The schools will open with 36 holes of stroke play on Monday, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. Each school will then wrap up the tournament on Wednesday with one match play contest.
Monday’s action begins at the Birmingham Country Club – a course that measures 7,226 yeards in length – with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. with tee times. Wednesday’s match play then begins at 8 a.m.
EARLY SEASON RECAP
The Tigers are off to a strong start in the 2023-24 campaign with two top-two finishes in three events so far. After opening the season with a second-place finish at the Golfweek Collegiate Kickoff, Mizzou went one better this past week at the Chicago Highlands Invitational by finishing as Co-Champions with No. 25 Wake Forest. Mizzou trailed No. 13 Virginia by three strokes and the Demon Deacons by two strokes going into the last hole before rallying to earn the trophy. It marked the first title under first-year head coach Glen Millican.
LUNDIN NAMED SEC GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Senior Jack Lundin has led the charge early in the campaign for Mizzou and was rewarded with SEC Golfer of the Week accolades on Wednesday.
Lundin finished second at the Chicago Highlands Invitational – his second top-five of the year – and led the Tigers rally en route to the title. His eagle on No. 18 coupled with a birdie on No. 17 led the late rally as Mizzou passed Virginia and equaled Wake Forest for the championship.
Ovearll, Lundin has carded eight rounds under par so far in 2023-24 with his stroke average of 68.89 leading the Tigers by nearly two strokes.
