Surratt Tied for Eighth; Vols in Sixth After Two Rounds at SEC Fall Preview

Sophomore Caleb Surratt shot 7-under through the opening 36 holes and the 5th-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team is 18-under and in sixth place entering the final round of stroke play at the SEC Fall Preview.

After competing in two rounds of stroke play on Monday, the tournament field—consisting of all 14 SEC teams—is set to play a final round of stroke play on Tuesday before each team competes in a round of match play on Wednesday against an opponent to be determined. The top two finishers from stroke play will face off in the final groupings of the day, while the other 12 teams will square off in an East vs. West match.

Heading into the final round of stroke play, Tennessee (-18) is two strokes behind Ole Miss and Texas (-20) A&M and seven shots ahead of Mississippi State (-11).

The Vols registered a 6-under 278 in round one and built upon their momentum to fire a 12-under 272 in the second round.

Surratt led the charge for Tennessee with his 7-under total that included a round one 68 and round two 67. The Indian Trail, North Carolina, native went bogey-free through 36 holes and notched seven birdies. He sits tied for eighth place entering Tuesday’s final stroke play round.

Just two strokes back from Surratt is Evan Woosley-Reed who shot a 2-under 69 in round one and followed it up with a 3-under 68 during round two. The Shelbyville native fired 10 birdies on Monday and is tied for 17th ahead of round three.
