Trio of Vols Finish Inside Top 20; Vols Place Tied for Fifth to Close Out Stroke Play at SEC Fall Preview


Evan Woosley-Reed, Caleb Surratt and Jake Hall put up top 20 finishes while the 5th-ranked Tennessee men’s golf team finished fifth following the stroke play portion of the SEC Fall Preview and will face off against Texas A&M in singles matches tomorrow morning.

Tennessee shot 5-under as a team on Tuesday to finish stroke play at 23-under overall. The 54-hole score is tied for the program’s 12th-best team score in relation to par.

Surratt and Woosley-Reed lead the way for UT individually after shooting 7-under and placing tied for 11th.

Woosley-Reed registered all three rounds in the 60s, including a round three 69 to close out stroke play. The sophomore’s showing earned himself back-to-back top 15 finishes.

Surratt shot an even-par 71 in his final round to cap off stroke play. The Indian Trail, North Carolina, native shot par or lower in each round and went bogey-free through his first 39 holes of the tournament. His tied for 11th place finish marks his ninth career top-25 finish.

Tennessee’s final top-20 finisher was Jake Hall. The Knoxville native shot all three rounds under-par, including his round three score of 69. Overall, Hall shot 4-under and placed tied for 20th.

Redshirt junior Lance Simpson notched a 1-under 70 in round three to finish stroke play at even par and tied for 34th place.

Redshirt senior Bryce Lewis also shot a 54-hole even-par score to place tied for 34th.
