FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 3 Washington sits in a tie for fourth after the opening round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, firing an eight-over 296 at Blessings Golf Club.

“The guys did really well out there today battling a tough, championship-level golf course,” head coach Alan Murray said. “It was a hot day out here and I was pleased with the way everyone played in difficult conditions and an unfamiliar atmosphere.”

Bo Peng leads the Huskies after day one, tied for 14th after shooting a one-over 73. Taehoon Song and Petr Hruby are one shot back of Peng in a tie for 19th at two-over, with Teddy Lin and Finn Koelle rounding out the Husky lineup at three-over and six-over, respectively.

After starting five strokes over par through five holes, Song closed bogey-free over the final 13, adding in three birdies.

“Taehoon responded impressively,” Murray said. “Starting the way he did on this type of course can be a nightmare scenario, so that was really nice to see. Teddy was really consistent all day and the other three guys mixed in a little bit of everything, including some really impressive shots.”

Host Arkansas leads after day one at nine-under par, the only team to shoot below par on the day. UW’s eight-over is tied with the Razorbacks’ second group at eight-over, three shots back of Kentucky in third.

“Arkansas played lights out today, hats off to them,” Murray said. “We’ve positioned ourselves decently for the next couple of days with how we played today and we’re one day smarter on this course. Looking forward to what tomorrow and Wednesday bring.”

The Huskies will resume play at the Blessings Collegiate on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. PT, teeing off on hole 10.
