Wilkes Finishes Third, Gators Take Fourth at Williams Cup


WILMINGTON, N.C. –  Florida men’s golfer Tyler Wilkes finished T3 as the Gators took fourth at the Williams Cup on Tuesday. 

The Gators shot its best round of the tournament and second-lowest among the teams in round three with a 291 (+3) to finish T4. North Carolina, the event’s host, won the event finishing 11-under. 

Playing as an individual this week, Tyler Wilkes tied his career best finish with a T3 outing – he last finished 3rd at the 2023 Gators Invitational. He also tied her career-low round of 66 (-6) in the final round today to finish 2-under overall and two strokes from medalist honors. The senior made 14 birdies for second-most among the field. 

Redshirt-freshman Luke Poulter set a new career-best finish in a tie for 11th. He shot a 2-under 70 in round three that featured a bogey-free back nine. 

The pair of Matthew Kress and Ian Gilligan had a final round of 73 (+1) and both placed T19. The performances mark their second top-25s of the season in three outings. 

Rounding out the lineup was Parker Bell and Quentin Debove tied for 40th and Ryan Hart (I) in T59.

The fall slate continues next week at the Georgetown Intercollegiate (Oct. 15-16).
