East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s men’s golf finished in 11th place at the 10th Annual Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, completing the team’s Fall season.
The Spartans finished at 6-under par 858 (283-282-293) and finished in 11th place among 16 teams.
South Florida had the lead after two rounds on Monday and topped the field, firing a 38-under par 826 (275-273-278). Toledo was one shot off the pace, finishing in second place at 37-under par 827 (276-272-279). Indiana placed third (27-under par 837), North Florida was fourth (23-under par 841) and Cincinnati rounded out the top-five teams (20-under par 844).
Senior August Meekhof was the top finisher for the Spartans, finishing in 17th place at 7-under par 209 (71-66-72).
Freshman Lorenzo Pinili had the team’s best round of the day with a 2-under par 70 on Monday afternoon. He tied for 26th place at 3-under par 213 (71-72-70).
Junior Satchel Pierce and graduate Drew Hackett tied for 55th place with scores of 2-over par 218. Pierce shot a 4-over par 76 on Monday (71-71-76), while Hackett closed with a 3-over par 75 (70-73-75).
Freshman Lucas Acevedo finished in 81st place with a 13-over par 229 (72-79-78).
Graduate Pierce Morrissey, playing as an individual, shot a 6-over par 222 (73-70-79) and tied for 69th place.
The Spartans return back to the competitive season after the calendar year turns, playing a duel match against Northwestern in Mountain lake, Fla.
