KILLEN, Ala. – Alabama golfer JP Cave claimed medalist honors competing as an individual at the MartinFed Invite at Turtle Point Tuesday afternoon. Cave, who was one of four Crimson Tide golfers competing in the event, claimed the individual title by three strokes after carding a 54-hole score of 15-under par 201 (67-66-68).
JP Cave Highlights
- JP Cave claimed his first-ever collegiate medalist honor at the event
- The Mobile, Ala., native matched a career-best 36-hole score (133) and set 54-hole career high (201), topping his former mark by seven strokes
- He led the field with 19 birdies to go along with an eagle, compared to just six bogeys across the 54 holes played
- Cave bettered Troy’s Lee Poppell (-12) by three strokes and Auburn’s Josiah Gilbert (-11) by four shots
- He played an impressive 11-under par on par 5 holes (4.08 average) to lead all golfers in the field, while playing par 4s at 4-under (3.87) and par 3s at even (3.00) to rank in the top two in both categories
Other Individual Highlights
- In addition to JP Cave, Austin Coggin, Jones Free and Luke Coyle also competed at the event, which was played on the par 72, 7,133-yard Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club course
- Coggin finished seventh overall with a 5-under par 211 (68-75-68), which included a pair of 4-under 68 rounds
- Jones Free tied for 16th overall at 1-under par 215 (76-70-69) with Luke Coyle rounding out the UA individuals in 46th position with a 225 (76-75-74)

- The Crimson Tide will head to Loxley, Ala. to compete at the Steelwood Collegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama
- The event, which will mark the final fall tournament of the season, will take place Oct. 28-29
