WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Illinois women’s golf team carded a 290 (+2) at the second round of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. The Orange and Blue will enter Sunday’s final round in seventh place.
Erica Lee surged into a tie for fourth after her second-straight round of 70 (-2) and is poised for the first Top 10, and Top 5, finish of her career. Lee amassed six birdies on the day, with four of them coming on the back nine. The freshman’s 10 birdies in the tournament are tied for the fourth-most among the field and she is one of six players to have made double-digit birdies.
Isabel Sy carded a 1-under 73 today and enters tomorrow’s final round tied for 13th. Sy tallied five birdies during her round, with three of them coming during the front nine. The senior also has 10 birdies during the tournament.
Sophia Sulkar posted a 74 (+2) and is tied for 32nd. Anna Ritter is tied for 55th after her second-round 73 (+1) and Lexanne Halama is 93rd after a round of 80 (+8).
Through 36 holes of play, the Illini have rolled in 32 birdies as a team, tied for the second-most in the tournament.
Arizona sits atop the leaderboard at 8-under (568), with Furman’s Anna Morgan leading individually at 11-under (133).
The Fighting Illini will be back in action tomorrow, with the final round beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT with a shotgun start.
