Evans in Second After Two Rounds at Bryan National Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following two rounds at the Bryan National Collegiate, Duke sophomore Ethan Evans is in second place, at 4-under, 140. John Peters and Daniel Uranga round out the Blue Devils’ representation on the individual leaderboard, in a tie for 42nd and 60th, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED: ROUNDS ONE AND TWO

  • Ethan Evans started the first round on the 10th hole and quickly got into red figures with his first birdie of the day on the par-5 11th. A dropped shot on the 12th was the only blemish on his opening nine holes, as the sophomore added birdies on holes No. 15 and 18, making the turn at 2-under. Evans suffered a bogey on No.4 and a double-bogey on No. 8 but used birdies on holes No. 6 and 9 to remain under-par at 1-under, 71, for the opening 18 holes.
  • The second round for Evans started in a similar fashion, with a birdie on No. 11 followed by a bogey on No. 12. The Mercer Island, Wash., native played bogey-free golf over the remainder of the second round, however, while adding three birdies over his final four holes to card a 3-under, 69.
  • John Peters made 16 pars while adding a single birdie and a single bogey in his first round to finish the first 18 holes at even-par, 72. A roller-coaster second round, with three birdies and eight bogeys, saw Peters finished at 5-over, 77.
  • The third individual competing in the event for Duke is Daniel Uranga, who enters the third round at 10-over, 154. Uranga carded three birdies in his opening round, including two over his final five holes, to help erase back-to-back bogeys on holes No. 1 and 2. In the second round, Uranga rolled in three more birdies but ended the round at 10-over, 82.
