With only two events left until the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Fall is finished, golfers near the top 125 had only a couple more chances to improve their position and secure a card ahead of next year.
However, plenty of those went backward and are likely heading home for the weekend.
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Club is on to the weekend. Although the second round hasn’t officially finished, the cut line is projected at 5 under.
Among those expected to head home early are the U.S. Amateur champion, a former major champion, a 15-year-old Bermuda native and plenty of golfers searching for job security next year.

Here’s a look at who’s likely packing their bags after the cut becomes official at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
Betschart was living a dream this weekend. The 15-year-old from Bermuda qualified for the tournament where he has previously been a caddie, volunteer and tournament staff. He shot rounds of 73-75.
The 2023 U.S. Amateur champion reached 5 under at one point during his first round, but he had a rough finish to the day, shooting 3-under 68. On Friday, he was unable to get any momentum, shooting even-par.
The 2016 PGA champion shot 2-under 69 on Friday, but an opening 74 prohibited him from having any chance at the weekend. He came into the week 132nd in the FedEx Cup standings and is projected No. 139.
