ORLANDO, Fla. – The Duke women’s golf tandem of Katie Li and Rylie Heflin turned in top-10 finishes at the Orlando International Women’s Amateur this week, which was contested at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Li, a native of Basking Ridge, N.J., shot 4-under-par over her final 36 holes to move up the leaderboard and finished tied for seventh with a 54-hole ledger of 221. After struggling the first day with an 81, Li posted a 5-under, 67, on Friday and a 73 on Saturday. Li registered a bogey-free, 67, in the second round with four birdies. She posted eight total birdies over her 54 holes of play.
In two events in December and January, Li placed tied for 15th at the Patriot All-America and tied for seventh at the Orlando Women’s Amateur.
Over the three days of action this week, Heflin remained in the top 10 with rounds of 72, 74 and 76 for a 222. After registering four birdies and an even-par, 72, on day one, Heflin collected five birdies over her final 36 holes. A product of Avondale, Pa., Heflin ranked tied for sixth with nine birdies and finished the event tied for 10th.
Duke incoming freshman Martina Yu missed the cut with rounds of 75 and 81.
Mirabel Ting took home the title with a 1-under, 214.
