The Vols tee off the three-day, three-round tournament on Sunday and are scheduled to compete in one round apiece on Monday and Tuesday.
According to Scoreboard’s collegiate rankings, 10 participating teams are ranked in the top 20, with Tennessee as the fourth-highest team in the field.
The Vols are coming off a third-place finish at the Puerto Rico Classic, where they shot the fifth-best team score in program history (-38).
UT was led by sophomore Evan Woosley-Reed, who finished the tournament at 12-under overall to tie for eighth place.
This year marks the Vols’ fourth trip to Cabo in program history, and the third under head coach Brennan Webb.
THE VOLS’ LINEUP
Evan Woosley-Reed
Tennessee’s leader in stroke averages this season with a 69.33 mark, Woosley-Reed has carded 11 rounds of par or better and logged two top-10 finishes. Additionally, Woosley-Reed registered a career-low 54-hole finish in relation to par after shooting 12-under in Puerto Rico.
Jake Hall
Hall leads the Vols in rounds of par or better this season with 13 and has also posted four top-25 finishes. The redshirt senior currently holds a 69.67 average and enters the Cabo Collegiate with 100 percent of his rounds counting towards the team’s score.
Bryce Lewis
Lewis was Tennessee’s second-best finisher at the Puerto Rico Classic. The redshirt senior shot 9-under overall after firing three consecutive under-par rounds in Puerto Rico. Lewis finished the tournament tied for 16th and now has 25 career top-25 finishes.
Lance Simpson
The Knoxville native is coming off his second top-25 finish of the season after firing an 8-under 54-hole score at the Puerto Rico Classic where he tied for 21st. Simpson currently holds a 71.27 scoring average and has shot eight rounds of par or better.
Laurent Desmarchais
Desmarchais notched his 10th career top-25 finish at the Puerto Rico Classic after competing individually and shooting 8-under overall, including a first-round score of 67. The junior is set to make his first lineup appearance this season.
