Sophomore Melanie Walker led the University of Missouri women’s golf program through 36 holes of action on Monday at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia.
On a day when only one of the 17 schools finished under par, Walker led Mizzou and is in 35th place of 90 golfers with a 149 after two rounds of play (77-72). After a tough opening round for the field, Walker led the way with an even-par 72 during the second 18 holes of play with three birdies to her name.
Walker was followed by Ffion Tynan (75-76), Fleur van Beek (80-74), Addie Dobson (74-82) and Winnie Ng (83-78).
As a team, the Tigers sit in 15th place in a field that includes five teams ranked among the top 25 nationally.
Day two is set to begin at 9 a.m. CT for Mizzou.
