Women's Golf Set To Compete at Evie Odom Invitational in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Penn State women’s golf team will travel to the Evie Odom Invitational, formerly the Princess Anne Invitational, hosted by Old Dominion this Sunday through Tuesday at the Princess Anne Country Club. The field for the third annual tournament consists of 13 teams including 11 that are currently ranked in the top-100 by GolfWeek.

Play is set to begin at 8:00 a.m. each day with teams going off split tees. Penn State is paired with North Florida and Campbell in the opening round on Sunday with tee times beginning at 8:55 a.m. off the first hole. Starting times and locations for the second and third rounds are dependent on the team leaderboard.

Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.

THE TEAM

  • A slight adjustment has been made to the starting five for this tournament. Senior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) is joined by junior classmates Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) and Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) along with freshman Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) while senior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) makes her first appearance in the rotation this fall.
  • Freshman Katie Scheck (Greensboro, Ga.) will compete as an individual in her second tournament of the season after finishing tied for 40th at the Nittany Lion Invitational to open the season.
  • Delavallade paces the Nittany Lions in the early going of the year with an under-par scoring average of 71.78 while Willis is second a full shot higher at 72.78.

COURSE OVERVIEW

  • The par-70 layout spans 5,824 yards and features four par-5s along with six challenging par-3s.
  • Opening in 2008, the first-rate golf course winds through stands of stately pines and live oaks and along narrow waterways.

THE FIELD

  • No. 71 Penn State and the host Monarchs (No. 69) are joined by 11 additional schools led by 41st-ranked UCF. Chattanooga comes in the weekend 49th while Campbell ranks 56th and Charlotte is 60th.
  • Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, North Florida, Sacramento State, North Carolina Greensboro and South Florida round out the field.
