GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State men’s golf junior Maximilian Steinlechner was named to the All-ACC men’s golf team as the league announced the 15-member team on Wednesday.
Steinlechner led NC State with a 70.88 scoring average in 27 rounds this season. The Austria native’s current stroke average is currently the fourth-best single-season average in program history.
Steinlechner has finished in 16th or better in six of nine tournaments this season, including four top-10 finishes and three top-three performances. He opened the season with a second-place finish at the Rod Myers with a score of 13-under par. He finished in a tie for eighth place at the Mountaineer Invitational to help lead the Pack to a team title. He closed the fall season with a third place performance at the Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Course where he set a course record with a 63 in the second round.
The NC State junior has included his solid play in the spring with a four top-20 performances, including a second place finish at the Stitch Intercollegiate.
Overall, Steinlechner has scored under-par in eight of nine tournaments this year.
This is Steinlechner’s second consecutive year being named to the All-ACC team.
The All-ACC Team, Player, and Freshman of the Year are decided by a combination of the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings in conjunction with a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches. Coach of the Year was selected by a vote of the coaches.
