GCAA All-Region Teams

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s golf student-athletes Jimmy Meyers, Lou Olsakovsky and Patrick Sheehan have been named to the Division I All-Northeast Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Sunday morning.

The GCAA annually recognizes NCAA Division I collegiate players across six regions — Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. Penn State and Seton Hall tied for the most honorees on the All-Northeast Region team with three selections.

Olsakovsky earns All-Region honors for the second-straight season. The graduate student capped off his stellar Penn State career by qualifying as an individual for NCAA Regionals. Olsakovsky ranked second on the team this season with a 72.08 stroke average. He collected six top-15 finishes throughout his final season in the Blue &White, including a pair of top-10 placements.

Sheehan collects All-Region honors for the first time in his career after a stellar junior season. Sheehan also competed in NCAA Regionals as an individual and earned second team All-Big Ten honors. The Doylestown, Pa. native led the Nittany Lions with a 70.94 stroke average and collected six top-10 finishes and eight top-15 finishes throughout the 2021-22 season.

Meyers also earns All-Region honors for the first time in his career. He put together a strong junior season in which he owned a 73.53 stroke average through 30 rounds. Meyers collected a top-5 finish and a pair of top-10 placements throughout his junior season.

With three GCAA honors in 2021-22, a total of 89 Nittany Lions have been recognized as All-Northeast Region selections since 1992-93. For the eighth-straight year, Penn State had the highest number of honorees in the region. The Northeast Region, which covers the geographic area from Maine to Washington, D.C., comprises more than 50 NCAA Division I programs and has the largest number of schools of any region.
