Three University of Notre Dame men’s golfers have earned NCAA Division I PING All-Region honors, as announced by the GCAA over the past weekend. Graduate student Davis Chatfield, senior Taichi Kho and junior Palmer Jackson were all named to the midwest team, with all three student-athletes repeating their honors for the second consecutive season. In addition, Chatfield joins Cole Isban (2005-07) as just the second Irish golfer to earn all-regional honors three consecutive seasons.

Chatfield capped his time with the Irish at the NCAA Regionals playing some of the best golf of his career at Notre Dame. He finished 15th at the NCAA Regional, the highest finish of his career in NCAA play, following up on a 10th place finish at the ACC Championship and a second-place finish in the Stitch Intercollegiate (the final regular season event of the year). Chatfield finished the season with a 71.27 stroke average in 12 events, which places him fourth on the Notre Dame single season list and shaved his career stroke average down this year from 71.79 to 71.63 which ranks second on the all-time list at Notre Dame.

Taichi Kho, who announced his intention to return for a fifth season of eligibility at a special graduation ceremony held for the team on Thursday, May 19th (the Irish were competing during the full University of Notre Dame commencement weekend) earned his second all-region award of his career after finishing with a 71.38 stroke average for the season. The Hong Kong, China, native posted three top-10 finishes in 2021-22, including back-to-back second place efforts at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational and the Stitch Intercollegiate. He also carded nine rounds this season under 70 and trimmed his career stroke average to 72.13 (from 72.56) which ranks third all-time in the Irish record books.

Palmer Jackson was among the most consistent collegiate golfers in the nation this year, with six top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes on his resume. He will compete in early July as a member of Team USA at the Palmer Cup and set the school record for stroke average in a season at 70.50. Jackson also moved his career stroke average down to 70.89, which is the best in the history of the program.
