Busy Week Wraps-up For Colorado Golf


BOULDER —Former Buffalo Brittany Fan, tied for second at the 2022 Inspirato Colorado Women’s Open on Friday, finishing with a 9-under 207.
 
Clariss Guce, the leader following the first two rounds after firing rounds of 66 and 69, extended her lead to win medalist honors, carding a 5-under 67 during the last round. Guce finished with a five-stroke lead (202) over Fan and Lauren Coughlin, who both ended the event with a 207.
 
Fan made par 34 times, and her 15 birdies tied for the third most during the three-day tournament. She recorded five birdies in each round.
 
Several other former Buffs competed at the tournament. Robyn Choi tied for eighth overall (211), Jenny Coleman tied for 16th (214) and Kristin Coleman tied for 34th (218).
 
Natalie Vo, who will be a sophomore in the fall, tied for 29th. Vo moved up eight spots in the final round, carding a 1-under 71 to finish with a 217 (74-72-71). Throughout the event, she recorded seven birdies, four of which came in the third round and made par 39 times.
 
A few other Buffaloes were competing, although they did not make the cut following the second round. Incoming freshman Morgan Miller and junior-to-be Hailey Schalk tied for 60th as both recorded a 149. Miller carded rounds of 76 and 73, while Schalk shot a 75 and a 74.
 
Former Buff Erin Kerr Houtsma finished tied for 70th (76-74—150).  
 

At the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C., Malak Bouraeda shots rounds of 79 and 81 (160) at the U.S. Open. She became the fourth Buff to compete at the event, following in the shoes of Jess Wallace, Jenny Coleman and Choi.
