Biondi, Filler Receive Golfweek All-American Honors


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gator golfers Fred Biondi and Maisie Filler both earned Golfweek All-American honors, the publication announced. 

Biondi earned his second all-american first team nod this year as Filler was tabbed an honorable mention. 

The selection of the junior from São Paulo, Brazil, adds to a total of 107 all-time all-american selections in Florida men’s golf program history along with the 11th all-america honor under head J.C. Deacon in eighth seasons. He becomes the 26th multiple Gator all-american joining those such as Dudley Hart (4), Billy Horschel (4), Andy North (3), Brian Gay (2) and Sam Horsfield (2). 

Filler is the first selection on the UF women’s golf team in four seasons as Sierra Brooks was a Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Honorable Mention in 2018. The selection is the 59th in program history and 16th under head coach Emily Glaser

    • Ranked No. 5 by Golfweek and No. 8 by Golfstat overall

    • The outing marked his debut at nationals

    • Stroke average (70.1), under-par 54-hole scores (5), average relation to par for 18-holes (-0.8) and 54-holes (-2.6), top-5 (4), top-10 (5), top-25 (8) finishes and birdies per round (3.6)

  • Shot lowest round (63, -7) and tournament (196, -14)

    • The 196 at the VyStar Gators Invitational tied the tournament record 

  • Second on the team in birdies (103) and eagles (4) 
  • Have posted 15 of 28 rounds under-par this season

    • 14 out of 25 in the spring
    • 12 rounds in the 60s total and 11 in the spring 
    • A stretch of eight consecutive under-par rounds
