Crimson Tide Golfer Emilie Øverås Reaches Round of 32 at The British Amateur Championship


HUNSTANTON, England – Alabama golfer Emilie Øverås had an impressive showing at the 2022 R&A Women’s British Amateur Championship, concluding her run in the round of 32 in what is considered one of the leading championships in amateur women’s golf.

Øverås reached match play by making the cut among the top 64 finishers in stroke play by posted a 2-over par 148 (75-73). She opened match play with a Round of 64 victory over No. 7 seeded Esme Hamilton, 2&1 before falling to in the second round to Louise Rydqvist in 19 holes.

Emilie Øverås Bio

  • Competed in nine of the Tide’s 11 events on the season in 2021-22, finishing the year with one top-10 finish and three top-30 results
  • Ended the season with a 74.69 per round average and a +2.69 average vs. par, both of which ranked fourth on the squad
  • Had a career-best seventh-place finish at the Auburn Tiger Invitational where she competed as an individual and finished with a 4-over par 148 (74-74)
  • Was a part of the Crimson Tide lineup throughout the postseason, highlighted by a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Franklin Regional at 6-over par 222 (73-76-73)
  • Finished with a perfect 2-0 record in the match play portion of the SEC Championships, collecting a victory in 22 holes in the quarterfinals and a 5&3 win in the semis
