GREAT FIELD GEARING UP FOR AMUNDI GERMAN MASTERS

Esther Henseleit

It’s nearly the halfway point of the 2022 Ladies European Tour (LET) and the 17th event is the Amundi German Masters.

The Tour returns to Germany after six years and a field of 126 players will tee it up at Golf & Country Club Seddiner See in a 72-hole stroke play tournament from June 30 – July 3.

It will be a strong tournament for the home nation, who have 14 players in the field, hoping to earn victory on home soil.

Two-time LET winner Esther Henseleit leads the charge, having successfully defending her title in the opening event of the 2022 season at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open.

Henseleit, who won the 2019 Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year titles, is joined by Olivia Cowan, Karolin Lampert, Leonie Harm, Leticia Ras-Anderica, Franziska Friedrich and Carolin Kauffman.

German amateur Chiara Horder is also in the field alongside local player Polly Mack, two-time LET Access Series winner Isi Gabsa, and rookies Sophie Witt, Luisa Dittrich, Helen Tamy Kreuzer and Verena Gimmy.

Eight winners from the 2022 LET season will be trying to add another accolade including Swedish duo Linn Grant (Joburg Ladies Open, Mithra Belgian Ladies Open, Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed) and Maja Stark (Women’s NSW Open), who are number one and two in the Race to Costa del Sol.

First-time winners vying for their second win are Finland’s Tiia Koivisto (Jabra Ladies Open), Belgium’s Manon De Roey (Aramco Team Series – Bangkok Individual) and Spain’s Ana Peláez Trivino (Madrid Ladies Open).

South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace, who won the Order of Merit in 2010 and has 11 LET titles, will tee it up as will three-time LET winner England’s Meghan MacLaren.

While last week’s Tipsport Czech Ladies Open champion Jana Melichova is back again this week, as is Klara Spilkova – who finished in a tie for second place.

Nine of the top 10 in this year’s Race to Costa del Sol are here in Germany including Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson, Argentina’s Magdalena Simmermacher and Australia’s Whitney Hillier, who are all searching for their maiden LET victory.
