Five Husker Golfers Named All-America Scholars


The Nebraska men’s golf team produced some of the top performances in the classroom nationally in 2021-22, as five Huskers were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Thursday, July 21.

Caleb BaduraMark FoelbaekWill MarshallBranden Meyer and Tom Westenberger all earned spots on the prestigious GCAA Scholastic All-America team. Nebraska was one of just 10 schools in NCAA Division I to produce as many as five Scholastic All-Americans in 2021-22. The only schools with more GCAA All-America Scholars were Ohio State (6) and UNC Greensboro (7). Nebraska was one of three Big Ten Conference teams with at least five Scholastic All-Americans, joining Ohio State and Northwestern.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate’s Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
 
A total of 440 NCAA Division I athletes from 157 schools earned 2021-22 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors.
