Men’s Golf Adds Aidan Emmerich to Roster for 2022-23 Season

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s men’s golf Head Coach Casey Lubahn announced that Aidan Emmerich will join the Spartans’ program next year.

“We’re very excited to welcome Aidan to our program,” Lubahn said. “His family has roots in East Lansing so this is almost a welcome home for them. Aidan was a very successful high school golfer, played very well on the junior circuit and I think he’s someone who will be a great addition to our program.”

A native of Swampscott, Mass., Emmerich was a standout for six years on the golf team at St. Mary’s High School.

While at St. Mary’s, Emmerich helped lead the team to four conference championships and was part of three state championship teams. He joined the varsity team as just a sixth grader, playing alongside his two older brothers. The younger Emmerich was an All-Boston Globe and Boston Herald selection all four years of high school and he set a conference championship record when he fired an 8-under par 61 to win his third-straight Catholic Central League title last Fall.

Emmerich is a two-time qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur (2021-22) and was medalist in the Massachusetts State Junior in both years. He advanced to the state amateur Round of 16 in 2022 and reached the Round of 32 in 2020.

Emmerich finished in second place at the UHY Albany Junior in 2021 with a 4-under par 206, tied for fifth place at the Southern Junior Championship in 2022, tied for 18th place at the 2022 Scott Robertson and tied for sixth place at the AJGA Boyne Highlands in 2021.

Emmerich’s father, David, is an East Lansing native and his uncle, Daniel, is an MSU grad who still lives in the area. His oldest brother Max, played college golf at McDaniel College in Maryland, and Christian is a senior on the team at Holy Cross.
