COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lisa Strom, second-year head coach of the Buckeyes, announced the 2022-23 schedule Tuesday. The Buckeyes will play host to three events and compete in at least seven states this season.
“We are excited about the elite schedule we have put together,” Strom said. “Hosting three tournaments throughout the season is something we take great pride in doing. Overall, our mission is to provide an exceptional experience for our student-athletes while competing alongside the best teams in the country. We accomplish that with the schedule we play.”
The Buckeyes will host the Barbara Nicklaus Cup again this fall after the inaugural event was held in 2021 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.
“Hosting the Barbara Nicklaus Cup in October showcases the significant impact Barbara Nicklaus has had on the game of golf,” Strom said. “Having the event at Muirfield Village Golf Club, home of The Memorial tournament each year as well as a host for a Solheim Cup, shows the commitment they have to elevating women’s collegiate golf. Eight women’s teams will compete this year in a 54-hole stroke play format. We are thrilled to be the host of this prestigious event.”
Ohio State opens the season at the Dick McGuire/Branch Law Firm event in Albuquerque Sept. 12-13 before returning to the Mason Rudolph in Nashville, Tennessee, Sept. 23-25. After the Barbara Nicklaus Cup Oct. 3-4, The Buckeyes close out the fall portion of the schedule at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas, Oct. 23-24.
“By traveling across the entire United States, we are exposing our student-athletes to all types of weather conditions, styles of golf courses and grasses they can expect to see at the next level in professional golf,” Strom said. “These experiences will set them up for success as they navigate their future careers.”
Ohio State opens the spring season (Feb. 12-14) in California by serving as the host institution for the 27th Therese Hession Regional Challenge presented by Northrop Grumman. The event was renamed following the event last year for Ohio State’s longtime head coach Therese Hession, who retired in January.
