The 2022 Masters, PGA Championship, U.S Open and Open

We were spoiled in 2022.

From the host venues to the eventual champions, the major championships this year were incredible.

First, was Scottie Scheffler. Coming off a stretch of three wins in five starts, the young Texan held it together down the stretch, except for a slight miscue on the 72nd green, and claimed his first major title.

Then, Justin Thomas. One of the biggest names in the sport returned to the major championship winner’s circle for the second time, taking down Will Zalatoris in a playoff at Southern Hills. His previous major win was also a PGA coming at Quail Hollow in 2017.

A month later, Matt Fitzpatrick finally claimed his first win on the PGA Tour at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts. His U.S. Open victory came at the same venue where he won the U.S. Amateur in 2013.

Then, finally, Cameron Smith hunted down Rory McIlroy, who began the final round with a four-shot lead alongside Viktor Hovland and claimed his first major at The Open. His victory at the Old Course wasn’t his first big win of the season, however, as he also won the Players Championship back in March.
