Two Tennessee men’s golfers finished in the top three of this summer’s Elite Amateur Series, with Caleb Surratt claiming the Elite Amateur Series title.
Bryce Lewis finished in third place, making Tennessee the only collegiate program with two golfers inside the top 10 of the event’s final standings.
In its first year of existence, the Elite Amateur Series is a points race over the course of seven top-tier amateur golf tournaments—the Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, North & South Amateur, Trans-Miss Amateur, Southern Amateur, Pacific Coast Amateur and the Western Amateur.
Surratt finished with 75.5607 points—significantly ahead of the second-place finisher, who finished with 59.5319 points. Lewis narrowly missed out on giving Tennessee the top two spots in the final standings, finished with 56.0217.
By finishing inside the top five of the final Elite Amateur Series standings, Surratt and Lewis earn U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open final qualifying exemptions and a Korn Ferry Tour exemption.
An incoming freshman to Tennessee’s program, Surratt posted four top-five finishes in Elite Series events—at the Sunnehanna Amateur (T-4th), Southern Amateur (4th), the Pac Coast Amateur Championship (T-2nd) and the Northeast Amateur (3rd).
The Indian Trail, North Carolina, native is also coming off of a runner-up finish at the U.S. Junior Amateur in July.
Lewis was also consistently at or near the top of the leaderboard in Elite Amateur Series events—highlighted by a tournament win at the Sunnehanna Amateur. He also recorded top-five finishes at the Southern Amateur (5th) and Northeast Amateur (T-4th).
Surratt and Lewis are back competing against each other one final time before the start of the collegiate season next week—teeing off at the U.S. Amateur on Monday at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.
