Cards Add Williams to Men's Golf Roster

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jay Williams, the 2021-22 Crossroads League Player of the Year, has transferred to the University of Louisville, men’s golf coach head coach Ryan Blagg announced on Tuesday.

“We’re incredibly excited to add Jay to the Cardinal family,” Blagg said. “We know what type of player and teammate he is and what he will bring to our program is invaluable. We can’t wait to get the season started.”

Williams has one more season of eligibility after playing four years at Marian University.

The native of Jeffersonville, Ind., enjoyed a stellar season as a senior, earning 2022 NAIA PING All-American and first team NAIA All-American accolades. The senior appeared in seven tournaments that included four first-place finishes, and a trip to the NAIA Championship. Williams notched a first-place finish at the Bill Bockwitz Invitational and added another first place finish at the Ackerman-Allen Shootout with a 69. He Claimed Crossroads League Championship Medalist Honors after notching a 169 to set the new school record for lowest round. He closed the season with a ninth place at the NAIA Championship while firing a 282 (72+70+69+71).

The 2020-21 season was a breakout year, as Williams won three of his 10 tournaments and earned first team all-conference honors. He ended the year with five top-five finishes, as well as seven top-ten performances, and was selected to the NAIA Ping All-Region Team. He finished the season with seven top-10 performances and five top-five scores. Williams won his first tournament of the season at the Bill Bockwitz SAU Fall Classic and captured his second tournament of the season at the Sultan’s Run Invitational and team-best first round of 67

Following an impressive junior campaign, Williams finished in first place in four of the seven tournaments that he competed in during the 2021-2022 season, once again receiving All-Crossroads League honors. Williams also set the school record for lowest round at the Crossroads League Championship and earned ninth place at the NAIA Championship.

Williams joins a Cardinal team that is returning four of five starters, as well as seven of 10 players from last year’s roster.
