Snoeberger Advances to Match Play at U.S. Amateur

PARAMUS, N.J. – Senior Peyton Snoeberger parred the first playoff hole this morning to punch his ticket to the match play portion of the 122nd United States Amateur Championship, held at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.

Snoeberger is one of 64 qualifiers into the match play portion, out of a tournament field that started at 312 participants. He tied for 54th overall, then advanced out of a 15-player for 11-spot playoff with a par on the par-3 15th hole.

Snoeberger totaled a 36-hole total of 5-over par 146 (75-71) to advance. He shot a 5-over par 75 at the Arcola Country Club on Monday, but responded with an even-par 71 on the difficult Ridgewood CC layout, posting the sixth-best score out of 156 golfers on the course on Tuesday. He rose from 137th after Monday to 54th with his even-par round.

He will now face the tournament’s top seed, Luke Gutschewski of Elkhorn, Nebraska, in the round of 64 this afternoon, at 2:10 p.m. ET. Gutchewski earned co-medalist honors with a 3-under par 138 (68-70). Gutschewski last played in the Canadian Amateur Championship placing fifth, the same tournament that Snoeberger’s teammate Nick Dentino finished eighth.

Live coverage will be streamed today on Peacock at 3 to 4 p.m. ET, followed by television coverage on the Golf Channel from 4 to 6 p.m. ET.
