TRINGALE, KUCHAR END SEASON AT BMW CHAMPIONSHIP

Cameron Tringale and Matt Kuchar saw their FedEx Cup playoff runs and 2022-23 PGA Tour seasons come to a close last weekend at the BMW Championship in Wilmington, Del. For the second time in three years, Georgia Tech will not have an alumnus at the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.

Kuchar, one of two players to have qualified for the FedEx Cup playoffs in all 16 seasons of its existence and has the second-most top-10 finishes in those events (19), tied for 35th place at Wilmington Country Club with a 2-under-par total of 282, finishing his season at No. 64 in the FedEx Cup points standings. Tringale, who entered the playoffs inside the top 30 necessary to compete at East Lake, missed the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and finished 63rd at the BMW and tumbles back to No. 47.

HALEY II, ALBERTSON PLAYING WITH HOUSE MONEY

Paul Haley II and Anders Albertson, who are making return trips to the PGA Tour after both finishing among the top 25 in points during the Korn Ferry Tour’s regular season, continued their 2022 season last weekend in the first event of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.

Albertson, who missed the cut in his last six events of the regular season and finished 25th on the points list, ended his slide with a tie for 18th place as his namesake event, firing rounds of 70-67-66-65 to finish 16-under-par. Haley, who finished third on the points list, stayed with Albertson through the first 54 holes before posting a 76 Sunday to tie for 65th at 8-under-par.

Both players will be making a second foray into the top level of professional golf. Albertson was a full member in the 2018-19 season, while Haley will return for the first time since 2013. They can enhance their 2022-23 status with high finishes in the Finals earnings list, though Albertson will sit out this week’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio.

Seth Reeves, who finished outside the top 125 on the PGA Tour this season, needs to finish among the top 25 in Finals earnings to retain his privileges, but missed the cut in Boise.
