Maryland Women’s Golf Releases 2022-23 Schedule

Maryland Women’s Golf Releases 2022-23 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, MD – The 2022-23 Maryland women’s golf schedule was announced Wednesday by head coach Kelly Hovland in her second season, featuring 10 regular season tournaments across seven states, including Mexico. See the full schedule here.

This year’s schedule will be full of competitive play coming off of one of Maryland’s best seasons on the course in recent years, as the Terrapins finished sixth at the last Big Ten Championship. The Terps will return to five tournaments that they competed in last season.

“I am eager to get the season started and excited for the fall schedule that includes premier events against the toughest competition in the country as well as a couple of new events on historic championship courses,” said Hovland. “Starting off the season at Yale gives the team the opportunity to play the No. 1 college course in the country and put ourselves in contention. The Barbara Nicklaus Cup at historic Muirfield Village Golf Club is a limited field event hosted by Barbara and Jack Nickalus in partnership with Ohio State. Tennessee (Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship) and Landfall present challenging competition and a chance to evaluate our team against the best in the country. The fall season is an opportunity to develop our younger players, come together as a team, and put us in a position to take advantage of an outstanding schedule in the spring. We have a group of experienced players returning and a talented freshman class ready to make an impact, and I can’t wait to tee it up in September.”

Returners this year include 2022 NCAA Regionals invitee Patricie Mackova, senior Maria Vittoria Corbi, senior Angela Garvin, junior Karla Elena Vázquez Setzer, and sophomore Panassaya Somchit.

Newcomers include freshman Nicha Kanpai from Chiang Rai, Thailand, AnPhi Le from Fredrick, MD, Tammy Wu from Taichung, Taiwan, and fifth-year Clarisse Louise from Brussels, Belgium.

Assistant coach Amanda Hollandsworth will join the Terrapins in her first full season after serving in an interim role last season.

Postseason play consists of NCAA Regionals (locations to be announced later this season) and NCAA Championships taking place at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
