Matt Clark A Finalist For Men's Golf Assistant Coach Of The Year Award


NORMAN, Okla. — The University of North Carolina’s Matt Clark, California (PA)’s Kyle Bennett, Wake Forest’s Aaron O’Callaghan, Vanderbilt’s Gator Todd, Kansas’s Chris Wilson and Pepperdine’s Blaine Woodruff are finalists for the 2022 Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach of the Year Award presented by TaylorMade Golf Company.
 
The award is presented to the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, or NJCAA assistant coach that, among other things, has excelled in working with their student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom.
 
Carolina won three tournaments last season and advanced to match play in the NCAA Division I Championship for the second-straight season under the direction of head coach Andrew DiBitetto and Clark.
 
The Tar Heels tied for the most PING Division I All-Americas with four, including Ryan Gerard (second team), Ryan Burnett (honorable mention), David Ford (honorable mention), and Austin Greaser (honorable mention).
 
In addition to wins at Duke, Olympia Fields and The Williams Cup at Eagle Point, UNC won the stroke play portion of the ACC Championship and tied for first after 72 holes of stroke play at the NCAA Championship.
 
Peter Fountain made a playoff for medalist honors at the ACC Championship, Greaser won the NCAA Yale Regional and Burnett was one of four players in a playoff for the individual national title.  
 
Ford, who tied fifth at the NCAA Championship and was the ACC Freshman of the Year, and senior Ryan Gerard, earned Academic All-ACC honors.
