COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s golfers Faith Choi, Caley McGinty and Aneka Seumanutafa have been selected as Big Ten Preseason Golfers to Watch, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Choi, a sophomore, was a silver medalist in the 2022 Big Ten Championships and carded a career-best 67 (-4) on the final day of the tournament. On the 2021-22 season, Choi posted nine rounds of par or better and 78 birdies and her stroke average of 73.79 was second on the team. Choi was named an Ohio State Scholar Athlete and a Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar.
McGinty, a transfer from Oklahoma State entering her first season with the Buckeyes, is currently ranked sixth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR); it is the highest WAGR ranking of her career so far. McGinty most recently competed on Team England in the 2022 World Amateur Team Championships held in France Aug. 24-27. She tied for 16th place. This summer, McGinty also helped Team England win the 2022 European Ladies’ Team Championships and she competed in the AIG Women’s Open and the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship.
Senior Seumanutafa earns Preseason Golfer to Watch honors for the second straight season and she was a 2022 Second Team All-Big Ten selection. She led the Buckeyes with a stroke average of 73.00 in 10 events and 30 total rounds in 2021-22. Seumanutafa finished in the number five spot at the U.S. Open Qualifier and earned a spot as an alternate in the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open. She also qualified for the 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur and advanced to the Round of 16. On the 2021-22 season, she had three top-10 finishes and six top-20 finishes.
The Buckeyes begin their fall season Sept. 12-13 at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.
