Darling Named to Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List – University of South Carolina Athletics

Sophomore All-American one of 25 players on watch list for women’s player of the year award

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling has been named one of 25 players to the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List announced Thursday morning via Golfweek and Golf Channel.

The Midlothian, Scotland, native was one of 10 finalists for the award last spring year after one of the best freshman seasons in program history in 2021-22.

Darling was a consensus First Team All-American (WGCA and Golfweek) after leading the team with a 72.72 scoring average, the second-lowest mark in program history by freshman trailing only Pauline Roussin-Bouchard. The duo are the only freshmen in program history to earn First Team All-America distinction. Darling was incredibly consistent from start to finish with seven top-10 finishes in 11 stroke play starts. She did not place at the 2022 NCAA Championship after missing the third round due to illness. Darling returned however for the medal round on Monday and shot 69 (-3), one of just three players in the field to shoot in the 60s in round four at Grayhawk Golf Club.
