Hardy, Detry Secure PGA Tour Cards for 2022-23

NEWBURGH, Ind. – Fighting Illini men’s golf alumni Nick Hardy and Thomas Detry have each secured their PGA Tour Cards for the 2022-23 season.

The duo solidified their standing by virtue of their respective finishes in The Finals 25 standings, which drew to a close following the completion of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship at Victoria National Golf Club, the third and final leg of the Korn Ferry Tour Playoff.

Hardy finished 10th in The Finals 25 standings after tying for 15th at the Boise Open, grabbing a share of 28th at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, and tying for 12th this weekend at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship. The former Illini returns to the PGA Tour for a second consecutive season after earning his 2021-22 PGA Tour Card last year thanks to a top-25 finish in the Korn Ferry Tour regular-season standings.

He played in 21 PGA Tour events in 2021-22, making 12 cuts and notching four top-25 finishes, including a tie for eighth at the Travelers Championship in late June. That performance came on the heels of a tie for 14th the previous week at the 122nd U.S. Open at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

Detry stormed out of the gate to open the Korn Ferry Playoff with a tie for fourth at the Boise Open, a performance that all but secured his tour status following one event, and finished 17th in The Finals 25 standings.

Detry has been a mainstay on the DP World Tour since 2017, however, the Belgian is no stranger to PGA Tour events. He played in four PGA events in 2021-22, plus The Open Championship this past July at St. Andrews where he finished in a tie for 34th. He also posted a pair of top-20 scores with a tie for 10th at the Genesis Scottish Open, and a tie for 15th at the Corales Puntacana Championship, and tied for 22nd in his other two PGA outings – at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship and the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.

The 2022-23 PGA Tour schedule begins Sept. 15-18 with the Fortinet Championship at Silverado Resort and Spa North in Napa, Calif.
