McGinty Named To ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Caley McGinty has been selected to the ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List, announced by the Haskins Foundation last week.

The ANNIKA Award, named after Swedish World Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam, is given annually to the top female collegiate golfer in the United States.

“We’re excited for Caley, being named to the ANNIKA Award Watch List,” said women’s golf head coach Lisa Strom. “She has worked so hard and remained disciplined in her process and is very deserving of this recognition.”

McGinty, a transfer from Oklahoma State entering her first season with the Buckeyes, is currently ranked sixth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR); it is the highest WAGR ranking of her career so far. Of the 26 events she has competed in, she has won five and has had 10 top-10 finishes.

“Being named to this year’s ANNIKA Award Watch List is a tremendous honor,” McGinty said. “I’m looking forward to the season and competing alongside all of these great players.”

McGinty, a Bristol, England native, most recently competed on Team England in the 2022 World Amateur Team Championships held in France Aug. 24-27. She tied for 16th place.

This summer, McGinty also helped Team England win the 2022 European Ladies’ Team Championships and she competed in the AIG Women’s Open and the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship.

Last week, McGinty was also selected by the Big Ten as a Preseason Golfer to Watch.

The Buckeyes kick off their fall season at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Sept. 12-13 in Albuquerque, N.M.

About the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel

Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female U.S. collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer at the end of the season and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer.

Stifel, one of the nation’s leading wealth management and investment banking firms, serves as the presenting sponsor of both the ANNIKA and Haskins Awards, recognizing annually the most outstanding NCAA Division I female and male college golfers. Stifel also serves as a presenting sponsor for the NCAA Division I Women’s and Men’s Golf Championships on GOLF Channel.
