SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.  – The Wake Forest men’s golf team is set to begin its 2022-23 schedule at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate, running from Sept. 9-11 at Mirabel Golf Club.

The reigning ACC Champions are one of six conference teams in the 18-team field and also includes nine teams that qualified for the 2022 NCAA Championships.

The Deacs will also travel four individuals to compete at Maui Jim Individual at Desert Mountain in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Under the direction of longtime Wake Forest head coach Jerry Haas, the Deacs had a historic season in 2021-22. The Demon Deacons won their first ACC Championship since 1989 last season and set a program record at the 2022 NCAA New Haven Regional, shooting 26-under-par and winning the regional by seven strokes. They were led on the course by PING Second-Team All-American Michael Brennan and All-ACC performer Alex Fitzpatrick

Brennan captured individual victories in back-to-back tournaments, including at the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational with Fitzpatrick, for the second time in his career, while also winning the Genesis Collegiate Showcase and representing Team USA in the 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup.

In addition to winning the NCAA Regionals and ACC Championship, the Demon Deacons also claimed the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational, winning by 14 strokes with a program-record score of 805 and breaking the previous record by six strokes.

Friday’s first round is scheduled for a 11:00 a.m. start with the Demon Deacons, teeing off with No. 1 with East Tennessee State and Auburn.
