The 2022-23 Washington men’s golf season tees off this weekend as the Huskies head to Arizona for the annual Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

The tournament will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 9-11, at Mirabel Golf Course in Scottsdale, Ariz. The par-70 course will play at 7,118 yards, and the 15-team field also includes Pac-12 foes Arizona State and Oregon.

“It’s hard to believe the new season is upon us and we’re excited to get started,” said UW head coach Alan Murray. “We have had a really competitive qualifying tournament and the guys playing have earned their spots and are playing well.

“We have a nice mix of experience and youth this year and I am really looking forward to us competing and developing and progressing as the year goes on,” Murray continued. “This is a really strong field and will give us a good indication as to where we stand on a national level in many ways. Our guys can’t wait to get going and are relishing the chance to compete against the best teams and players.”

The Huskies are competing in this tournament for the second year in a row. Last year, RJ Manke led the Huskies with a 15-under 195 to finish in a tie for third place. Manke shot a 62 in the second round and a 63 on the final day as the Huskies finished in fifth place as a team.

Last year, the UW had a banner season, highlighted with a down-to-the-wire victory at the Pac-12 Championships, where then-senior Noah Woolsey won medalist honors. Manke, who transferred to UW prior to the season, won Pac-12 Golfer of the Year while head coach Alan Murray was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
