The Washington men’s golf team finished the second of three rounds at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in seventh place, with a two-day total of 540, 20 strokes under par.

The Huskies finished Saturday’s round at Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., with a 9-under team score of 271. Teddy Lin and Petr Hruby each shot a 4-under 66 to lead the way on Saturday. Each carded five birdies and one bogey, with Lin making birdie on the final three holes.

Hruby enters the final round Sunday at 8-under for the tournament, good for a tie for ninth place.

Bo Peng was 2-under on Saturday and heads into Sunday’s final round at 7-under for the tournament, good for 17th place.

Taehoon Song shot a 1-over 71 Saturday and his 3-under for the weekend, while freshman Joshua Koo also shot a 71 and is now 3-over through two rounds.

“The scoring is really good here this weekend. It’s a bit of a track meet,” said UW head coach Alan Murray. “Overall, we didn’t make enough birdies today and lost a little bit of ground. We’ve just got to be a little more clinical tomorrow.”

“This will be one of the strongest fields in college golf this year,” Murray said, “so just trying to beat as many teams as possible in the final round and climbing as many spots as we can – that’s what we’ll be hoping to do. This is a great early-season test for us.”
