ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Ohio State women’s golf team is in first place after completing the first 36 holes of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on Monday. The Buckeyes combined for a team score of 566 (-10) and have a six-stroke lead on the second-place team.
Peter had a stellar day for the Buckeyes, firing a 71 (-1) in the first round and a 70 (-2), tying her career-low, in the second round. She finished the day with a total score of 141 (-3).
Aneka Seumanutafa and Caley McGinty each had a total score of 142 (-2) and are tied for eighth place. Seumanutafa shot even par (72) in the first round and fired a 70 (-2) in round two to jump up 10 spots in the standings. McGinty shot 70 (-2) in the first round and 72 (E) in round two in her first appearance with the Buckeyes.
In her OSU debut, Kary Hollenbaugh carded a 73 (+1) in round one and jumped up 14 spots in the standings after shooting 71 (-1) in the second round. She finished the day even (144).
Jillian Bourdage rounded out the Buckeye quintet, finishing the first 36 holes tied for 19th place. She shot a career-best 70 (-2) in round one and carded a 75 (+3) in round two for a total score of 145 (+1).
The Buckeyes play the third and final round of the tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
