Tigers Tied for Second After Two Rounds of Cougar Classic – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

Charleston, S.C. – Clemson fired one of the best rounds in program history on Monday afternoon to surge into a tie for second after two rounds of the Cougar Classic, played on the 6,269-yard, par-71 Yeamans Hall course. The Tigers head into Tuesday’s final round behind Ole Miss and tied with fellow ACC club NC State.

Clemson shot 275 (-9) in round two, good for the third-best team round in Clemson history (based on total score). It is also tied for third-best team round vs. par in school history. The Tigers also had four girls shoot under 70 in the same round for the first time in school history.

Sophomore Melena Barrientos started the day with a 68 (-3) in round one. She then shot 69 (-2) in round two and sits in a tie for fourth going into Tuesday. Senior Savannah Grewal matched Barrientos with a 68 (-3) in round two, improving five strokes from the morning round.

Junior Annabelle Pancake shot a 69 Monday afternoon to improve five strokes from round one, while sophomore transfer Chloe Holder shot a 69 in her second round as a Tiger, improving six strokes from round one. Freshman Sydney Roberts turned in two 73s on the day in her first-ever collegiate tournament.

As a team, the Tigers shot up eight spots in round two to tie NC State for second going into Tuesday.
