Seniors Lead Wake Forest on Day One of ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The Wake Forest women’s golf team sits tied for sixth after the first day of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M.

Seniors Rachel Kuehn and Lauren Walsh paced the Deacs on day one, with each shooting a one-over-par 73. Sophomore Carolina Chacarra and graduate student Emilia Migliaccio were right on their heels, as they each finished with a two-over 74.

Back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes kept Kuehn moving up, and subsequent birdies on the 12th and 18th holes maintained her position on the individual leaderboard and helped the Deacs jump from eighth to sixth on the team leaderboard.

Walsh started fresh with back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth holes and also tallied two more on her second nine, the 12th and 15th holes, to keep her in position inside the top 15.

Chacarra led the team most of the day and recorded a birdie on both her first and second nine holes. After a birdie on the eighth, Migliaccio birdied the 18th to jump inside the top 25 to end the day.

Second Round
Tuesday’s second round will begin at 9 a.m. ET with the Deacs teeing off in 10-minute intervals off the first tee beginning at 9 a.m. Wake Forest will be paired with Oregon and Duke.
