Cougs Begins Aagaard Era Sunday at the Badger Invitational


MADISON, WIS. – The Washington State women’s golf team opens a new era this weekend, as the Cougars will play in their first tournament under the direction of new head coach Sofie Aagaard. WSU travels to America’s Dairyland to play in the 2022 Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The three-day tournament will take place Sept. 18-20 at the University Ridge Golf Course.

The Course and Format

The 2022 Badger Invitational will take place at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin. It is a 6,248-yard, par-72 course. Each day of the tournament will feature one 18-hole round. Teams will tee off at 7 a.m. PT each day, with Tuesday’s final round featuring a shotgun start.

The Field

Along with Washington State, the 2022 Badger Invitational will feature Colorado State, Delaware, East Carolina, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, North Florida, Notre Dame, Old Dominion, Rutgers, UC Davis, and host Wisconsin.

The Cougs Last Time at the Badger Invitational

Washington State will be opening its second-straight season at the Badger Invitational. Last year, the Cougars finished fifth as a team after posting a team score of 883 (+9). Then freshman Madelyn Gamble made the most of her collegiate debut last season in Madison, Wisconsin as the Pleasant Hill, California native carded a career-best 216 (E) and shot 4-under 68 in the tournament’s second round. Darcy Habgood and Jiye Ham were also a part of the WSU squad that played at the University Ridge Golf Course last season.

“We’re super excited to get the season started. We’ve been practicing for almost four weeks now and we’ve gone through some really competitive qualifying. Our lineup is ready to go and we’re excited to see how our training at home translates on the road against other teams.”
