Song Second As UW Finishes Third At Husky Invitational

BREMERTON, Wash. – The Washington men’s golf team flirted with the top spot but ultimately finished third at the 2022 Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain’s Olympic Course. Junior Taehoon Song led the Huskies, finishing in second place with a three-round total of 4-under 212.
 
Late in Tuesday’s final round, the Huskies and Washington State both surged to within one stroke of USC, which had led most of the way. In the end, the Cougars capitalized and won the tournament, with a 4-over 868. USC (7-over 871) finished second, two shots in front of the Huskies (9-over 873).
 
Song, who was in fifth place after Monday’s first two rounds, shot a 3-under 69, with five birdies and two bogies. His round-three total was the second-best score of the day and one of only eight under-par scores in the 78-man field on Tuesday.
 
Three other Huskies finished in the top 25. Teddy Lin was 2-over for the round and, even through two rounds, finished 2-over for the tournament, good for a tie for 11th place.
 
Bo Peng shot a 3-over 75 to finish 4-over for the tournament, tying him for 19th place overall. Freshman Joshua Koo, also even after the first two rounds, was 7-over par on Tuesday, earning a tie for 24th place.
 
The tournament also featured an individual tournament on the Gold Mountain Cascade Course. Husky freshman Patrick Hong finished in a tie for 13th place in that field with a 3-over 213.
 
Next Monday and Tuesday, the UW’s fall schedule continued with a trip to the Inverness Invitational in Toledo, Ohio.
