UW Sixth; Boyd 10th After Round One At Mason Rudolph

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Washington women’s golf team opened the 2022-23 season Friday, finishing round one of the Mason Rudolph Championship in sixth place at 4-over. Junior Camille Boyd led the UW, shooting a 1-under 71, good for a tie for 10th place.
 
After her first nine holes at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, Boyd was 3-under and in sole possession of the lead. After bogies on three of the first five holes on the back nine, she closed with two birdies over the last four to finish with a 71.
 
Teammate Winnie Ng carded three birdies and three bogies to finish even for the round, good for a tie for 18th. In her first competitive college round, freshman Carmen Lim birdied No. 16 and 17 to finish with a 73, tying her for 23rd place in a field of 78 golfers.
 
“We played fairly well today with just a couple of hiccups mid-round,” said UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. “I’m very pleased with the way we finished and super happy for Carmen to get her first round in as a Husky. They did a nice job of managing their process throughout the day.”
 
After a 5-over front nine, Brittany Kwon recovered late in her round, carding birdies on the 14th, 16th and 17th holes to finish 4-over, tying her for 48th. Jamie Hsieh shot a 6-over 78.
 
Saturday, the players will tee off for round two of the three-day tournament.
