NORMAN, Okla. – The Illinois women’s golf team opened the Schooner Fall Classic in sixth place after carding a 18-hole team total of 276 (-4) heading into Saturday’s second round at Belmar Golf Club.

Crystal Wang ended the day tied with Clemson’s Chloe Holder atop the individual leaderboard after carding an opening round 64 (-6). That matched the lowest single-round total of her career, which she set at the ICON Invitational on Feb. 22, 2022. Wang recorded seven birdies and one bogey during her round, posting 32s on both the front and back nine.

Isabel Sy also had a career-matching round of her own, matching her career low-round total of 67 (-3) and sits in a tie for ninth. Sy also set her low-round total at the ICON Invitational in the same round as Wang. The San Gabriel, Calif., native tallied five birdies in her round to go along with two bogeys.

Mattie Frick finished at +2 after shooting a 72 and is tied for 59th. Lexanne Halama is tied for 67th after posting a 73 (+3) and Alise Knudson is tied for 81st after carding a 77 (+7).

Florida State leads the tournament with a one-round team score of 267 (-13).

Sunday’s second round begins with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. CT.
